News: Husband Punches
Out Great White Shark
Mark Rapley
has made life difficult for the rest of “us” husbands in the world. Mark has set
a “high-bar” mark for husbandly love and behavior. You may have heard the news
this past week from Australia about a 10-foot great white shark attacking his
wife Chantelle Doyle while they were surfing. As Chantelle was being attacked, her
husband Mark paddled his surfboard over to the attack and started punching the
great white shark in the eye. Fortunately, the great white shark released
Chantelle and she is recovering in a hospital.
Now, there
is always a downside and upside to all stories. The upside for Mark is this… every
time Chantelle complains about ANYTHING he can say, “Hey, didn’t I punch out a
great white shark for you?” Here is the downside for the rest of us “mere
mortal” husbands. As this story is released throughout the world wives are now
asking their husbands, “Would you punch out a great white shark for me?” Thanks
a lot Mark! You have made life a little tougher for the rest of us husbands.
Now, just in case you don’t know how to answer this question let me offer a
suggested answer from a husband who has been married for 46 years. “Of course,
honey, I would punch out a thousand sharks for you!” And, if you need a Bible
verse, continue to say from John 15:13, “ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay
down his life for his friends.” Of course, the real test is when that “someone” is YOU!
